FARMING TYPES

Farming Types

Subsistence Farming:
Small-scale farming is aimed at producing enough food to feed the farmer's family, with little surplus for sale. Common in developing countries where agriculture is a primary means of livelihood.
Commercial Farming: Large-scale farming focused on producing crops and livestock for sale in the market. Includes specialized farming operations like dairy, poultry, and cash crops.
Organic Farming: is farming without the use of synthetic chemicals, pesticides, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Emphasizes sustainability, soil health, and environmental protection.
Industrial Farming:is a large-scale operation that uses advanced technology and methods to maximize production efficiency. It often involves monoculture (growing a single crop over a large area) and intensive animal farming.
Mixed Farming: Combining crop cultivation and livestock rearing on the same farm. Enhances biodiversity and can improve soil fertility through the use of animal manure.
Permaculture Farming: A sustainable farming approach that mimics natural ecosystems. Focuses on diversity, resilience, and ecological harmony. Farming Methods
Crop Rotation: Growing different crops in succession on the same land to maintain soil fertility and reduce pest and disease buildup.
Intercropping: Growing two or more crops simultaneously on the same field to maximize space and resources.
Agroforestry: Integrating trees and shrubs into crop and livestock systems to improve biodiversity and soil health.
Hydroponics and Aquaponics: Soilless farming is a method where plants are grown in nutrient-rich water (hydroponics) or in combination with fish farming (aquaponics).
